Bucklesham Grange Care Home, in Bucklesham Road, was given the maximum overall rating by the health watchdog which praised staff for their ‘exceptional performance’.

Out of five key areas looked at in the inspection, two of the five were rated ‘outstanding’ while the other three were rated ‘good’.

The home was given an ‘Outstanding’ rating in the ‘caring’ and ‘well led’ sections of the report and ‘Good’ when it looked at whether it was safe, effective and responsive, following the surprise inspection on June 7.

The report, which was published on September 14, said: “People received exceptional care that was personalised to them, taking account of their individual needs and wishes.

“The registered manager was supported by a dynamic management team that demonstrated a holistic approach and had clear oversight of how the service was meeting people’s physical, emotional and social needs.

“Staff were proud to work at Bucklesham Grange and were remarkably motivated and passionate about delivering high-quality care.

“They were also extremely compassionate, attentive and caring in their interactions with people.”

A relative of a resident who was quoted in the report added: “It is truly a wonderful place. People do come first here.

“The staff can’t do enough and treat them so well. Nothing is too much trouble.

“I’ve known them to pop in on their day off to drop things off like a board game or magazine they thought one of the residents might like; very thoughtful and considerate.

“They are diligent and attentive and treat people with respect and are very, very caring.”

Daniel Rowark, general manager, said: “It is an absolute privilege to receive an ‘Outstanding’ rating from The Care Quality Commission, it is a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of the team to deliver high-quality relationship-centred care to our residents. From high five moments and celebrations, to times of sensitivity and sadness, we share these moments together with team members, residents and relatives alike, as a family.

“I look forward to the next step of our journey, continuing to deliver outstanding care, striving to always be exceptional in everything we do.”
