A Hadleigh man who sexually touched a schoolgirl who had a crush on him has been ordered to attend a sex offenders’ treatment programme.

Simon Conyer exchanged flirtatious text and WhatsApp messages with the 14-year-old despite being warned by her family how young she was, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Juliet Donovan, prosecuting, said Conyer kissed the girl, who was described as having “a bit of a crush” on him, on the lips and touched her breasts over her bra on one occasion.

Conyer, now 27, of Woodthorpe Road, Hadleigh, admitted sexual activity with a child and was given a three year community order and will have to attend the Thames Valley sex offenders’ treatment programme. He was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years and pay £600 prosecution costs.

Lindsay Cox, for Conyer, said the last year since his arrest was hard and he was suffering from depression.
