Music, dance, food, face-painting and storytelling made for a “fantastic” day for visitors to Ipswich Library’s ninth annual multicultural celebration.
The event attracts thousands of attendees every year, with organisers showing off the traditions of different communities across the world.
Krystal Vittles, development manager for Suffolk Libraries, said it was a “fantastic” event and the building was “full to the rafters” with people enjoying the activities.
She added: “I think libraries are a neutral, safe space anyway, and events like this give people a chance to come together in that safe space and celebrate each other’s differences and to learn about how we are all different but how we are also the same; so it’s about community cohesion and also to have a really good time.”
This year’s event was held on Saturday Mrs Vittles said the atmosphere was “really buzzing”, with many families, from young children to grandparents, turning out.
