This was a new participation record for the annual Alton Water Run, which this year is celebrating its 10th year.
Starting out as one route attracting less than 150 runners, the event has grown year on year and now features 10k, 5k and 2k races.
Set in the picturesque surroundings of the Alton Water reservoir between Holbrook and Stutton, the weather stayed bright and dry for the attendees, who also enjoyed stalls, a bouncy castle and a barbecue.
Fiona Ewart, chairwoman of the organising committee, said: “All in all it was very successful.

“Everyone seemed to enjoy it and we are getting good feedback.”
The Alton Water Run was set up by Suffolk parents and it funds extra curricular projects for the children at Tattingstone, Stutton and Holbrook primary schools and Holbrook Academy.
Although the final count has yet to take place, Fiona said the event should bring in around £12,000, which will be split equally between the four schools.
Among the sponsors this year were Blocks Solicitors and Kingsfleet Wealth.
