Suffolk Constabulary is again appealing for any witnesses to come forward after a 26-year-old man from Ipswich died after a two-vehicle crash in a village near the town at the weekend.
A blue Yamaha motorbike and a white Audi car were involved in a collision in Henley Road in Akenham just before 1pm on Saturday.
Emergency services were called and the rider of the motorbike, who was a 26-year-old man from Ipswich, died after being treated for “critical injuries” at the scene.
Today, Suffolk Constabulary said there will likely be no updates regarding the incident, but reissued their appeal for any witnesses to contact them.
There have been no arrests in connection with the incident, a force spokesman also said.
Two people in the Audi suffered minor injuries, with one taken to Ipswich Hospital with neck pain, according to reports.
It is thought the motorcyclist was heading towards Henley while the car was travelling in the Ipswich direction. The road remained closed for several hours after the collision.
Michael Herbert, chairman of the parish meeting in Akenham, said concerns had been raised previously about the safety of the stretch of road between the Lower Road and Rede Lane junction, where the incident took place.
Mr Herbert, who rides a motorbike and has sons who also ride, said safety was always a concern for the biking community.
“Our sincere condolences go the family of the motorcyclist,” he added. “I can only imagine what it must be like.”
Rev Mary Sokanovic, the priest in charge of the parish of Whitton with Thurleston and Akenham, offered her condolences to his loved ones. “The family will be in our prayers both in our public services and privately,” she said.
“The congregation has been affected by tragic incidents like this in the past and it is close to the hearts of everyone. There’s very little you can say to console those who have lost a loved one but we will be there to support them if they want to get in touch.”
