Sprightly octogenarians were among those who had a go at gymnastics in Ipswich on Wednesday with the final event in the ActivIpswich pentathlon.
The project aims to help those aged 55 and over who do not take part in regular sport to remain active in a sociable and relaxed atmosphere.
Following on from tasters in archery, golf, swimming and multi-sports, more than 80 people aged between 55 and their mid 80s came together for gymnastics at Ipswich Gymnastics Centre.
Mike McCarthy from ActivIpswich said: “The response to the challenge event has been fantastic with so many people being prepared to come along and have a go at a new sport. The participants have ranged in age from mid-50’s to mid-80’s, it really has been inspirational to see such enthusiasm and commitment to giving sport a go particularly from people who are not regular sports participants.”
