Ipswich heavyweight Fabio Wardley’s hopes of making his professional debut on Friday night, were scuppered when his opponent pulled out at short notice, due to medical reasons.
The former Chantry High School pupil was scheduled to fight at The Halls in Norwich, but was left kicking his heels in frustration.
However, the fight has already been rescheduled for April 8, on a show at York Hall, in Bethnal Green, and those people who purhcased tickets to watch him on Friday, will get a free ticket or, if they can’t attend, will get a full refund.
Wardley told his followers on his Facebook page: “I’m a strong believer in paying your dues and that good things come to those who wait (I just have to wait a little longer lol).”
One boxer who did fight on Friday night was Colchester-based welterweight Connor Vian, who defeated Duane Green, on points, taking his record to two wins from two professional fights.
