The train lines from London to Ipswich have now reopened after a man was hit and killed by a train between Colchester and Manningtree earlier today.
A British Transport Police spokesman said they were called to the scene at Ardleigh at round 5.45pm this evening and that the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
He said: “Medics from the local Ambulance service also attended but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
Train services between Liverpool Street and Stratford, Shenfield, Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich were disrupted in both directions this evening.
The lines were reopened at around 8.40pm however a spokesman for Greater Anglia said there is likely to be residual delays on the trains.
