Bucklesham Road in Foxhall, Ipswich is currently closed at the Straight Road junction because of an accident involving a car and an electricity pole.
Recovery work is being carried out by police and engineers from UK Power Networks this morning and the road is expected to be closed in both directions until at least 8am.
The collision happened at around 1am and no-one was injured, a police spokeswoman said.
UK Power Networks received a call from police at around 5.15am, and their engineers are now working to repair the damage to the pole.
One property has been left without power, a spokesman said.
