Members of the Ipswich Life Saving Club ended the year with the annual Club Pairs Championship.
With events testing the skills taken aboard during the year, it was an opportunity to display just how far the club members had progressed.
It also presented them with a chance to compete against other classmates and club members.
With a points system reflecting awards held by the competing individuals it meant the youngest members were able to take on those with many more years experience on a level playing field.
After four testing events it was the least experienced pair who were crowned champions.
Charlotte Howard has been in the club for a year while teammate Daniel Moos only joined the club last month.
“We were not expecting this, we are totally shocked to see who we have beaten,” Howard said.
Runners up were Helen Jarrett and Katie Pugh, with Tegan Jarrett and Chloe Howard claiming the bronze medal.
Other notable performances included Danielle Grey and Caroline Rust winning the aquatic rescue element, Chloe Howard being victorious in the rope throw, Robyn Hall posting the fastest body board sprint time and Tegan Jarrett and Chloe Howard winning the swim and tow.
