A memorial football match will be played this week to celebrate the life of an “adored” sportsman who died earlier this year at the age of 20.
Joe Sharpe, from Felixstowe, was in his second year of a BSc football coaching and performance degree at the University of Chichester where he also played right-back in the men’s football team.
On Saturday, Mr Sharpe’s peers, lecturers and teammates will compete on the university’s Bishop Otter campus football pitch at 2pm in his memory.
Luke Sheavyn, president of men’s football at Chichester, said: “The past few months have been tough for everyone as Sharpie was so adored, yet the love and togetherness that people have shown to each other has been incredible. It would be great to see as many as possible of Sharpie’s friends, family, and people from Chichester attending to help honour the hero that he was.”
Mr Sharpe died at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester on January 13 following a short illness.
