More than one in five youngsters are not in work or education in parts of Ipswich, new figures show.
The Westgate area of the town – including Bramford Road and Norwich Road – was the worst area for 16 to 18 year olds for NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training) last month. Just over one in five (20.3%) were classed as NEETs – a total of 354.
In contrast, Bixley – the area surrounding Ipswich Hospital – was the best area in Ipswich. Only 2.4% were not in education, work or training.
Overall, the Ipswich average in March 2016 was 9.4%, above the latest available England average – from October to December 2015 – of 6.6%.
The analysis was carried out on data compiled by the Suffolk Observatory.
