Crimestoppers has renewed its reward of up to £20,000 for information on the disappearance of Luke Durbin to mark his 29th birthday.
Luke, who was 19 at the time and from Hollesley, disappeared on his way home from Zest nightclub in Ipswich after going out on the evening of May 11, 2006. The last positive sighting of him was captured on CCTV as he crossed Dog’s Head Street at around 4am the following day, heading towards a bus station.
Crimestoppers announced an appeal for information with a reward of up to £20,000 in October. This has been renewed until March, with the money coming from the crime-fighting charity, Suffolk police, Luke’s mother Nicki Durbin, the East Anglian Daily Times and its sister paper, the Ipswich Star.
Police are also releasing three images of Volvo cars, similar to the one seen on CCTV minutes after the last images of Luke in Ipswich on May 12, which officers hope may jog someone’s memory to help trace the driver.
The vehicle was seen on CCTV a short distance away in Orwell Place in Ipswich at 4.09am.
It is known this is a silver or white coloured Volvo 440 saloon car – similar to the ones pictured – and police are keen to trace the driver and any occupants of the vehicle.
Police enquiries have identified a possible registration M206 LYE but it appears this was registered in a false name and address so officers are keen to speak to anyone who has information about a Volvo car bearing this registration in May 2006.
Detective Superintendent John Brocklebank said: “Following the Crimestoppers reward appeal we received several calls and pieces of information around possible locations and suspects, and we are pleased with the response, however none of these have provided specific details. We are researching the information provided to see if this can be developed but we haven’t got the crucial piece yet – and we believe there are still those that may be able to help.
“We are particularly keen to find the person who owned or drove the vehicle seen on CCTV in the area minutes after the final sighting we have of Luke on CCTV and would still like to hear from anyone who may have information about who had a similar vehicle in May 2006.”
The reward is offered if someone gives information that leads to the arrest and conviction those responsible for the disappearance of Luke.
