A 33-year-old man has appeared in court charged with involvement in the management of brothels in Ipswich, Sudbury and Colchester.

Razvan Ursu is facing two accusations relating to prostitution.

The case involves two alleged brothels in Ipswich and one in each of the other towns.

Ursu is alleged to have conspired to manage, or assist in the management of, a brothel.

He also faces a money laundering charge which alleges he conspired to conceal, disguise, convert, transfer or remove criminal property.

The accusations relate to the period between October 12, 2012, and July 1, 2014.

The brothels involved are said to have been located in flats in St Matthew’s Street in Ipswich and Duke Street in Ipswich.

The others were alleged to have been in Lucas Road, Sudbury, and George Williams Way, Colchester.

Ursu, who had a Preston address on court records, made his first appearance on the charges before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court in Ipswich.

His case was sent to the town’s crown court.

Ursu’s next appearance will be at a preliminary hearing on December 10.

He is currently remanded in custody.
