A four-vehicle crash on the Orwell Bridge caused travel misery for rush-hour motorists on the A14 last night.
Police closed a section of the westbound carriageway on the bridge after the crash at 5.20pm. It fully re-opened shortly after 7pm after the vehicles had been recovered.
The crash involved a white Ford Transit van, a black Renault Clio, a silver Vauxhall Astra and a grey Nissan Qashqai.
The collision resulted in long tailbacks westbound. Congestion reportedly stretched back to the Seven Hills interchange (junction 58).
Slow traffic was also reported in the eastbound carriageway, stretching back to the Copdock Interchange.
Paramedics assessed the motorists involved in the pile-up but there were no serious injuries and no-one was left trapped in a vehicle, police said.
No arrests were made.
