The news comes after the theatre revealed some 8,000 people from across the county flocked to see the Agatha Christie whodunnit The Mousetrap last week.

Councillor Bryony Rudkin, Ipswich Borough Council’s culture and leisure portfolio-holder, said: “These two huge shows will attract many thousands of people to the Regent and enhance what is already a sizzling line-up. The theatre helps us to put on the biggest and best cultural offer in the region.”

X Factor top five finalist Lloyd Daniels makes his musical theatre debut as Joseph. Also taking on his first musical theatre role as Paraoh is Matt Lapinskas, known to millions of EastEnders’ fans as Anthony Moon.

Proving you can’t stop the beat is the new production of Hairspray, running November 23-28, 2015.

Turning the clock back to Baltimore 1962, Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, is determined to dance her way on to national TV. She’s soon using her new-found fame to fight for equality.

Featuring songs like I Can Hear The Bells and Good Morning Baltimore it’s guaranteed to have you out your seat and on your feet.

“If anyone was stuck for Christmas presents, I think we’ve just solved their problem. These two blockbuster shows provide superb entertainment. Book now as we only have both shows for just one week,” added the Ipswich Regent’s David Mansfield.

Both shows go on sale at 9.30am Friday.
