Two five-year-old boys were in hospital today after suffering injuries in a car collision.

The youngsters were placed on spinal boards and taken to Ipswich Hospital after the crash in Meredith Road at around 3.25pm.

It is thought they were walking home from nearby Whitton Community Primary School.

Their injuries were described as not life-threatening by an ambulance spokesman.

He said one boy suffered a cut to the face. Police said a second boy suffered minor chest injuries.

The driver of the red Ford Focus involved in the crash will face no action, the police spokesman added.
