A Suffolk couple have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Second World War veteran Ernie Green marked 60 years of a happy marriage to wife Mary with a small family get-together at their home in Michigan Close, Kesgrave on Thursday.
Mr Green, 92, who served in the Royal Air Force and saw action in the Battle of the Somme during the 1939-45 conflict, said he was proud to have reached the landmark.
“I’ve lived a varied life and was very happy to see so many friends and family turn up,” he said.
His daughter, Anna Atkins, who lives in Berkshire, said the secret to her parent’s success was communication and the willingness to talk and laugh together. “It was a great day. We reminisced about our holidays in Devon,” she said.
