Ipswich ‘Sackers’ Witches team boss Pete Simmons admits his side are ‘really up against it’ after they lost their opening play-off clash to Workington Comets at Foxhall Stadium on Thursday night.
The Witches crashed to a last-heat 5-1 maximum from Comets top men Richard Lawson and Rene Bach. But quite frankly it was a lacklustre performance from the Witches throughout.
“We’re really up against it now,” admitted Simmons.
“If we don’t win at Workington on Saturday then our play-off hopes are as good as over. And if we don’t win at Workington on Saturday, we then travel to Newcastle on Sunday with our chins on the floor.
“It’s vital we turn this round.”
