An ancient legend involving two warring dragons from Suffolk and Essex will come to life at a fete in Sudbury next month.
One version of the story goes that the fire-breathing creatures leapt to high ground in the two counties close to Ballingdon and the River Stour and, as legend has it, hurled sheep at each other.
The Ballingdon Fete will feature its own sheep-throwing competition in honour of the legend β with toy versions of the animal.
Sudbury stonemason Neil Luxton has made a trophy, which the winner will be able to keep for a year.
Andy Message, fete chairman, said: βIt will be a lot of fun and we hope those coming to the fete will have a go at winning the wonderful trophy made by Neil.β
The village-style fete an will be held from noon to 4pm on Kone Vale off Middleton Road and Ballingdon Street on Sunday, September 9.
Other attractions will include a fun dog show, live music, food and drink, the Ballingdon bake-off baking competition, stalls and games.
The event is raising money for the Eden Rose Coppice charity in Sudbury.
