More than 400 homes and businesses in Haverhill have had their power restored after a lorry clipped an overhead cable.
UK Power Networks took the decision to shut off power in the CB9 area of the town shortly after 9.30am, following reports of a grounded overhead line.
The network operator said it shut the power in the interest of public safety.
Power was restored for most properties by 11.20am.
A spokeswoman for UK Power Networks said: "Our engineers were quickly on site in Mount Road, Haverhill after Suffolk Police reported a lorry had brought down an overhead power cable.
"Initially 437 properties in the area were isolated for safety reasons. The majority of customers had their power restored at 11.20am.
"Around 20 customers are currently without power while repairs are carried out."
