Essex and England legend Graham Gooch regaled guests with stories from his career in the game at Copdock & Old Ipswichian Cricket Club’s Annual Presentation Evening, writes Nick Garnham.
Gooch played for 15 years at Essex alongside Ray East, who is now President of Copdock & OIs, and said they had fun every day as well as being successful.
Around 170 guests attended the event, sponsored by Industrial Boiler Services, which was held at Ipswich School. Suffolk all-rounder Jack Beaumont, who was unable to attend, was named the club’s first-team player-of-the-year.
Gooch made the presentations as follows: 1st team player: Jack Beaumont, 2nd team player: Karl Story, 3rd team player: Ankit Sajnani, Sunday team: Sam Webb-Snowling, Young player: Alex Oxley, Duck bat: Sam Webb-Snowling, Clubman: John East, Ladies’ 1st team: Rachel Woodward, Ladies’ 1st team young player: Holly Mayhew, Ladies’ T20: Olivia Locke, Ladies’ T20 young player: Beth Quinton
