A number of services were cancelled or revised during the rush hour following a points failure at Manningtree.
Train services are now back to normal after disruption between platform three at Manningtree and the Harwich branch due to a points failure on the line.
The disruption affected some services headed to London Liverpool Street, with a number of trains cancelled, delayed or travelling with fewer coaches through Norfolk, Suffolk and north Essex.
Greater Anglia confirmed that Network Rail engineers were en route to the site.
