Flood alerts have been extended along the Suffolk and Essex coast urging residents to take care and to avoid unnecessary danger.
The Environment Agency yesterday issued a number of alerts for coastal regions stretching from Felixstowe to Clacton, including the Deben, Orwell and Stour estuaries, which related to this morning’s high tide between 1-3am.

Since then, the EA has added new alerts for Southwold between 11am and 1pm, when there is reported to be a possibility of some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths.
Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to the forecast weather conditions during spring tides.
The Deben Estuary, Suffolk and Essex coast from Felixstowe to Clacton including Orwell and Stour estuaries, and Essex coast from Clacton to and including, St Peters Flat and the Colne and Blackwater estuaries, remain on alert for this afternoon’s high tide from 1-3pm.
“Take care on coastal roads and footpaths and don’t put yourself in unnecessary danger,” the warning states.
