The Chuckle Brothers’ iconic catchphrase rang out around the New York Stadium as Ipswich and Rotherham fans paid a perfect tribute this afternoon.
Barry Elliott, one half of the famous comedy duo, passed away at the age of 73 this week following a battle with cancer.
Along with his brother and ChuckleVision partner Paul, who was at today’s game, Barry was a fanatical Rotherham fan and was named an honorary vice president of the club in 2007, with the Millers quick to pay tribute following his death.
A minute’s applause preceded kick-off, before rounds of ‘to me, to you’ erupted around the ground in the 73rd minute - as age at the time of his passing.
Fans had been encouraged to get involved in the days leading upto the game, with the catchphrase chanted backward and forward between home and visiting supporters. If Ipswich fans had had their way the chants would have started from minute one, with the away following looking to get the ‘to me, to you’ shout started on a number of occasions.
Both sets of supporters clearly enjoyed commemorating one of the country’s great children’ entertainers. You sense Barry would have enjoyed his football send-off, too
