More than a thousand applications to keep firearms were made in Suffolk over the last year, figures have revealed.
Just 19 applications to legally keep a firearm or shotgun were refused by police in the year ending March 31, 2018.
The figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, also showed that 36 firearms and shotgun certificates were revoked.
There were 299 applications for firearms, including rifles, handguns and sound moderators – four of which were refused – while 15 of 734 shotgun applications were turned down.
Eight firearms certificates were revoked – up from six the previous year – while last year also saw an increase in shotgun revocations – 22 to 28.
Nationally, there were 9,696 new applications for firearm certificates and 24,584 for shotgun certificates.
Certificates are valid for five years, but can be revoked if, for example, the holder can no longer be entrusted under the Firearms Act 1968.
