There is nothing more many of us like than sitting by the bank of a river or a lake and idling away the time by catching some fish - especially when the weather is so lovely.

But it is not only us humans who have been suffering in the hot weather.

Low oxygen, high water temperatures and algae blooms mean our fish are also struggling to survive.

Many of us who enjoy a spot of fishing do so with the best of intentions, but by keeping them out of the water for too long we may be putting them at even greater risk.

No-one wants to stop us having fun on a warm summer’s day, but just to take a little bit more care to help nature survive.
