Standing crops and straw bales are the victims of the latest wildfire to brun in Suffolk after a combine harvester burst into flames at a Suffolk farm.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service has sent seven engines to the field fire in Eyke, near Woodbridge, which was reported at around 4.15pm.
A fire service spokesman said the fire involved four acres of stubble, standing crops and bales, as well as a combine harvester.
The service tweeted: “Please avoid the area if possible and expect local traffic congestion if you have to travel in that vicinity.”
Yesterday, 15 fire crews were called to a field fire off the B1106 just outside Elveden while Jimmy’s Farm at Wherstead was evacuated as fire broke out nearby.
There have been repeated warnings about wildfires as some parts of Suffolk have gone 50 days without rain, resulting in tinder dry conditions.
Sparks from farming equipment, discarded cigarette butts and discarded glass can all cause field fires which then burn out of control. The fire service have also warned against letting off Chinese lanterns.
