Essex Police are appealing for witnesses after reports that a man in his 40s had been assaulted by a group of approximately five teenagers on New Farm Road in Stanway.
The incident happened at about 10pm last night, Saturday, May 26.
Officers arrived at the scene and a man was taken to hospital with non-serious injuries.
Two 16-year-old boys from Colchester have been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.
They remain in police custody.
A police spokesperson said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area around the time.”
