Stone Lodge Academy in Chantry was presented with the cheque by Melanie Farruku, who is president of the The New Century Lions club and mother to one of the year nine pupils at the school, Mary.
Easter raffles organised by the Lions helped to raise £492 of their £600 cheque with the rest of the money being donated by the club.
As well as presenting their own cheque the Lions also handed the school an additional cheque for £200, which had been donated by The Mersea Island Lions.
The total of £800 will now be used to support children at the school which specialises in help for those who might otherwise have barriers to learning.
A spokesperson from the school said: “The money will go towards our current fundraising initiative; of buying a sensory magic carpet for the school.”
