Visitors to Bury St Edmunds’ market on Saturday, June 16, will have an opportunity to test their fitness and have a go at a range of activities free of charge.
The Pop Up Gym, a fitness events organisation, is working in partnership with St Edmundsbury Borough Council to promote health and wellbeing within the community.
This will bring several fitness organisations from Bury St Edmunds partners together to produce workouts and demonstrations.
The Pop Up Gym team will also be on hand to discreetly assess people’s health and fitness through a health MOT.
Robert Everitt, cabinet member for families and communities, said: “Our markets are not just a place to shop but a place where people meet, where they gather socially to enjoy the atmosphere and some of the delicious foods on offer.
“We have some brilliant fruit and veg stalls as well as others selling healthy foods such as fresh fish. It makes sense for our market traders to be involved in helping to promote a healthier lifestyle to our communities, both through a balanced diet as well as plenty of exercise.
“As a keen cyclist, I am looking forward to giving the spinning bike a whirl and I hope lots of people will join me on the day.”
