A Suffolk nurse has admitted drink-driving for the second time in three years.

Shareen Alibaba drove home to Chester Road, Felixstowe, after celebrating her place on a paramedic master’s degree with friends in Ipswich.

The 30-year-old, who came to the UK as a Zimbabwean refugee in 2005, was reported by her partner when police responded to a disturbance at their address on April 3.

As officers arrived, Alibaba returned to her car, which was earlier seen veering along the A14 at Trimley.

She was almost three times the limit, with 100 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath, but solicitor Claire Lockwood told Ipswich magistrates that Alibaba had consumed only one glass of wine, and was so concerned about the level of reading that she visited a doctor to be advised her liver may not be functioning properly.

Disqualified for the same offence in June 2015, she was banned for another 40 months and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
