Firefighters in Newmarket have received a new engine and equipment which will further enhance crew and casualty safety.
The new fire engine arrived at Newmarket Fire Station last week and a further four new engines will be distributed to stations across Suffolk in the coming weeks.
The new vehicle and equipment includes a COBRA high pressure lance – which facilitates entry through walls to allow application of a high pressure mist into a building to improve conditions prior to firefighter entry.
Another vehicle feature is an electronic stability programme (ESP) which automatically assists the driver with safety and stability, while improved thermal imagery assists crews when entering buildings.
The battery operated rescue equipment (BRE) enables crews to get to work quickly at road traffic collision scenes and also improves firefighter and casualty safety.
