The mum of a brave seven-year-old boy from Bury St Edmunds who has battled cancer has thanked the company which sent him on a magical trip to Legoland.
Simone Wilby, 33, said the surprise gift from Premier Education Group – which was part of their Christmas Genie campaign – was “amazing”.
Her son Kodie Pollock, who is currently in remission from a Wilms’ tumour, was surprised at his school, Hardwick Primary, with the special day out last week.
Kodie, who has to have regular checks at both West Suffolk Hospital and Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge, visited Legoland at Windsor on Saturday.
Simone said: “I can’t thank Premier enough really for what they did. It was amazing. We had a really good time, Kodie absolutely loved it, which was the main thing.”
Kodie’s surgery on his tumour was sandwiched in between two bouts of chemotherapy and he will be 10-years-old when he completes his checks.
Simone said: “Kodie struggles academically and physically he has pain in his legs a lot from the after effects of chemotherapy. He’s such a happy, sociable little boy.
“He’s been through a lot but he’s such a ball of energy and kept smiling through it all.
“He’s kept me going to be honest because he’s been so upbeat about it all and it rubs off on everyone else.”
“He deserved to have a special treat like this.”
The aim of Premier’s campaign was to make Christmas brighter for four children and their families throughout the UK.
The Christmas Genie campaign consisted of parents nominating their children online, including their top three Christmas wishes, and a reason why they deserve to win one of them.
Premier’s very own Father Christmas – chief operating officer – Steve Eastaugh and one of his helpful elves, operations director Frankie Worthington. visited Kodie to surprise him with the trip.
Gemma Howell, from Premier, who organised the Christmas Genie campaign, said: “Premier were honoured to surprise Kodie with his Christmas wish - he is a truly inspirational, brave little boy who deserved an extra special Christmas treat.”
