Police investigating a robbery on the outskirts of Elmswell are urging motorists to get in touch with dash cam footage.
Two men approached a mobile food takeaway van in Norton Road, parked in a layby just north of the Elmswell roundabout, at around 10.40pm last Thursday.
They turned the generator off before one of the men attempted to get inside the van.
Detectives believe a fight then broke out between the suspect and business owner.
A police spokesman said: “The second man approached the victim holding what is described as a large pole or bat. “The victim managed to run off and flagged down a passing motorist who assisted.
“A till containing a quantity of cash was stolen from the van.”
The victim also suffered cuts to his hands.
Witnesses who passed the scene, close to junction 47 of the A14, between 10.30pm and 11pm are asked to get in touch with police.
Those with dash cam footage, and anyone with information, should call West CID on 101 quoting reference number 75482/17.
