Volunteers are being urged to get involved with a project which will bring the history of the Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds to life.
The Guildhall, in Guildhall Street, is Britain’s oldest continually used civic building with a history that spans more than 800 years.
Following a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the historic building will open next year as an immersive heritage centre and events attraction, which can be enjoyed by a wide cross-section of the community.
The history of the building will be supported by live actors, interactive displays and collections as well as education programmes and a sensory experience for people with disabilities.
The Guildhall needs volunteers to help tell its story and is hosting a volunteer fair on Saturday, December 2, from 11am to 3.30pm.
For more information on volunteering opportunities with the project, contact James Mellish, project manager, on 07702 588683 or email info@burystedmundsguildhall.org.uk
