Households in the Suffolk Coastal area who have not updated their annual voter registration forms will soon be visited by canvassers.
Forms asking residents to update details about those eligible to vote at their address were sent out to all homes earlier this year.
Completing the documents by confirming or updating the details is a legal requirement. The council say over 88% of households in the area have already done so.
Stephen Baker, Suffolk Coastal’s electoral registration officer, said: “A big thank-you to everyone who’s responded so far.
“We do however, still have 7,000 households who haven’t replied. The easiest way for residents to so, is online, followed by phone or text.
“This is part of our legal requirement to ensure that residents who are entitled to can vote in future elections.”
The council’s approved canvassers will be going out soon to these addresses with identification and tablet computers to help residents.
