Primary school children from Hartest, near Bury St Edmunds, took part in their very own bake-off to raise money for charity last week.
All Hartest Primary School pupils were invited to compete in the Great Hartest Bake-Off on Friday, October 6, and the children chose to donate money raised to Cancer Research UK.
The children baked in three categories – cupcakes, a celebration cake and a harvest loaf, and the fantastic creations were judged by school cooks Jackie Clapham and Toni Rose-Belcher.
Matthew Coombs, headteacher, awarded 12 winning certificates to pupils during celebration assembly with parents in the afternoon, and a total of £157 was raised after the cakes were sold.
Mr Coombs said: “It was great to see the wonderful range of cakes and bread made by the children. Even though we are a small school, we actively encourage our pupils to take part in fundraising beyond our own local community.”
