The mostly council house site spans from Colchester Road to Humber Doucy Lane.
Prefabricated houses were built on part of the site in 1947 to help with the housing shortage following the Second World War and had a planned life of ten to fifteen years, they are still standing after seventy years with most residents loving their homes.
Rushmere Hall School in Lanark Road, designed by Johns, Slater and Haward, was built between 1947-49.
Most children from the estate started school there.

Were you one of the children at the Renfrew Road playgroup Christmas party in the late 1970s? Picture: IVAN SMITH (Image: archant)
Carol Lingley (nee Jowers) emailed in her memories.
I lived on the Chantry estate from 1959 - 1980, moving out when I got married.
My mother and father moved into their brand new house in Bunting Road in 1956, having previously shared a house on the Maidenhall estate as many couples did.
The picture of the people in the Kingfisher are I believe, Kevin Vale, Lorraine Flegg and Marie Perkins.
Can you name these people on an evening out at the Selkirk Public House in 1974? Picture: PAUL NIXON (Image: archant)
I went to Chantry Secondary School from 1970 - 1975 and knew them there.
Our headmaster was Mr Webber, a very well respected man and an excellent head.
I don’t believe the school was the same after he retired.
It’s nice to see the old photos of my childhood haunts.

Stuart McNae sent this photograph of railway workers in 1985. Health and safety rules would no doubt change many features over three decades later. Do you recognise anybody featured? (Image: Dave Kindred)
Can you add names to this 1976 photograph of Ransomes Sims and Jefferies, Nacton Works, Fire Brigade team, sent by Stuart McNae?
