A 33-year-old man has been charged after officers received reports of a man carrying a kitchen knife shouting racially aggravated words at passers-by in Clacton yesterday.
Ryan Corper, 33, of Crome Road, Clacton, is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 5,charged with possession of an offensive weapon and causing harassment, alarm or distress.
On receiving reports of the disturbance, police attended Old Road in Clacton.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers armed with Taser arrested the man at the scene.”
Chief Inspector Russ Cole said: “We are eager to remind anyone who is a victim of hate crime to report it to us so we can act at the earliest opportunity.
“There are 28 hate incident reporting centres (HIRCs) across Essex where anyone can report a hate crime to a fully trained hate crime ambassador.
“The locations of these can be found online at www.stopthehate.org.uk.
