Speaking on Saturday, a spokesman for British Transport Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene at Colchester North station.

A spokeswoman for Greater Anglia apologised to customers, and reminded passengers that they could claim for compensation if they were delayed longer than half an hour.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew and two response cars to the scene, and a response car from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Service also attended.
