As Ipswich Town’s underwhelming season comes to a close on Sunday at Nottingham Forest, we take a look back to brighter days as the Blues crushed the Reds 6-0 at Portman Road in March 2005.
The first half was relatively competitive for Forest, though Town took the lead in the 27th minute through Richard Naylor and Ian Westlake added a second just eight minutes later.
But things started to unravel in the second stanza, as Tommy Miller netted in the 50th minute and then again in the 64th minute from the spot.
Two more goals, courtesy of Shefki Kuqi and Darren Bent (on 67 and 71 minutes), ensured the visitors went home on the wrong side of a heavy defeat in front of 25,765 fans.
Ipswich finished in third place in the Championship table that season, earning a spot in the play-offs, but failed to beat West Ham over two legs, losing 4-2 on aggregate.
