David Mason visited Wilby Primary School yesterday where he taught performance techniques and explored the theme of communication and problems to do social media.

Headteacher Roisin Wiseman said it was a “wonderful opportunity to explore a contentious issue”.

“The children are really excited having been inspired by the performance,” she added.

The project ties in with Anti-bullying Week and is aimed at Year 5 and 6 pupils at Wilby, Fressingfield and Bedfield Primary schools and Year 7 students at Stradbroke High School. Mr Mason will visit the other schools throughout the week, leading up to a free performance at Stradbroke High School at 6.30pm on Friday.

Mrs Wiseman said Mr Mason is “incredibly talented at using drama to enable children to explore a range of issues”.

“Performance poetry is a powerful medium to utilize and I am sure that the children will gain from this experience on many levels,” she added.
