One Suffolk school is celebrating the Queen’s birthday in style with traditional pageantry.
The Royal Hospital School in Holbrook will start the day with a flag ceremony at 8.15am at the front of the school.
The school band played the National Anthem during the raising of the Royal Ensign ahead of a special chapel service.
Later today staff and students will be taking part in a street party at 5.15pm.In preparation for the day 700 boys and girls, dressed in their
ceremonial uniforms, marked out the number 90 for an aerial photograph.
The picture has been framed and sent to Her Majesty the Queen as a birthday present from the school.
Headmaster, Simon Lockyer, said: “The Royal Hospital School was established by Royal Charter in 1712 and has enjoyed royal patronage for more than 300 years.
“It is therefore fitting that the whole school joins together to celebrate the Queen’s life, her dedication to the
Commonwealth and international affairs and her deep involvement with the navy, army and air force.
“We hope that she will like our gift which we have passed on via His Royal Highness the Duke of York, the school’s official visitor.”
