A hastily-arranged skate jam in aid of refugees was well-supported by people who gave money or donated items.
The Bury Skate Park Experience charity put on the fundraising jam at the Olding Road site, in Bury St Edmunds, on Sunday, in response to the current crisis. DJs played throughout the evening and the event included a rail jam.
The skate jam was organised in a matter of days after members of Bury Skate Park Experience came up the idea. Simon Pickering, who represents St Edmundsbury Borough Council on the Bury Skate Park Experience, said £200 was raised in donations to help UNICEF’s efforts and items collected – such as clothing and sleeping bags – were passed on to the charity CalAid.
