He may be Ipswich’s number one, but Bartosz Bialkowski, right, believes there’s no better strikeforce in the Championship than the Blues’ fantastic four.

Ipswich ended Saturday’s victory over Sheffield Wednesday with strike quartet David McGoldrick, Daryl Murphy, Brett Pitman and Freddie Sears all on the pitch, as Mick McCarthy’s team saw out a 2-1 victory against the Owls.

Murphy, and Sears, who equalised for Town against Wednesday, started on Saturday, but all four are adept at linking up with each other, according to McCarthy, which is an exciting prospect for Town fans.

Bialkowski also played his part, the Polish stopper making a fine late save to deny Wednesday’s Lucas Joao from range, but the former Notts County goalkeeper said it is at the other end of the pitch where Town are set to thrill.

Ahead of tonight’s home game with Burnley, the unbeaten Blues aiming to make it seven points from nine, following Saturday’s success and the 2-2 opening-day draw at Brentford, Bialkowski said he is certainly benefiting from working with a wealth of attacking options.

“I suppose it is great for us goalkeepers, trying to save shots from our four strikers, I think they are the best in the division,” said the ex-Southampton stopper.

“Last season we were good but this season we have added Pits (Brett Pitman), as well as the young players, Ryan Fraser and Ainsley (Maitland-Niles), so it’s looking very promising.

“We showed last season that we are more than capable of doing something in the league and with our new faces we are looking much stronger.

“I think we are capable of doing something special here. I don’t want to say too much because anything can happen in football, but I think we are going to do alright.”

Meanwhile, Jonathan Parr, who could return for Saturday’s trip to Preston, scored for the Under-21s Development team in their 3-0 win over Coventry City, at Playford Road, yesterday.

Parr, who has been suffering with a thigh injury, was joined on the scoresheet by Cameron Stewart and trialist striker James Alabi, who recently spent a similar spell at Sheffield Wednesday.
