The public access automated external defibrillator (AED) was officially unveiled at the Riverside Centre last week.
Suffolk Coastal District Councillor Phillip Dunnett and Suffolk County Councillor Andrew Reid provided funding for the equipment through their locality budgets, with other contributors including Premier Toilet Hire, Stratford Service Station, Greenfuture Energy and Stratfield St Andrew Parish Council. The defibrillator is located outside the centre. It can be accessed in emergencies by any member of the public who will be given a code upon calling 999. The defibrillator gives verbal instructions once activated. A number of people within the community have been trained to use the defibrillator and in CPR, but anyone in the vicinity can use it.
