Firefighters in north Suffolk were called to a building in Bungay yesterday after an outside gas meter was reported to be on fire.
Crews from Bungay and Harleston were initially sent to the scene in Flixton Road at about 5.05pm. Gas transporter company Transco was then called to isolate the gas supply.
The crews on scene reported that the building’s electrics were involved in the blaze so National Grid was also called, in addition to further crews from Lowestoft South and Halesworth stations and a command unit and support pump from Beccles.
One hose reel was used to extinguish the fire. The incident was brought under control just before 7.45pm.
