After trading for 15 years in London, Jim Denny and his wife, Ann, decided to relocate their Mexican business, Casa Mexico, to the middle of Suffolk in Stonham Aspal, near Stowmarket.

The shop is based in the Ten Bells pub which closed in March last year. Mr Denny, 76 said: “People will wonder why I’m here; when they come in they think it’s lovely and colourful, but we will have to wait and see.

“It’s too early to say how it will go, Suffolk is very different to London. We’re waiting to see what people are interested in and take it from there. I am assuming, but I do not know yet, that the emphasis may be on items for the garden. People have come from Cambridge and Colchester to visit the shop, we are not expecting a lot of local passing trade, people find us mainly because of the website.”

The shop sells a diverse array of goods, including wrestling masks, lanterns, tiles, food and drink and clothes.
