Few villages can tout the attendance of nobility at their Christmas festivities – and only one can boast greeting one of England’s greatest monarchs.
But this Saturday, Yoxford’s Tudor Christmas Fair will be graced by Queen Elizabeth I and her attendants.
Bethany Corbett’s Queen Bess will be joined by Celeste and Rose Main-Vincent for the village hall opening. Their dresses were made by costume designer Michael Stennett, who also supplied jewellery he created for Glenda Jackson in 1971 BBC series Elizabeth R.
The fair, from 10am-2pm, includes, food, stalls and live entertainment, with performances by the Broadside Boys and the Sing Out Yoxford community choir. Entertainment on stage throughout the day will start with the Barley Brigg Morris Dancers.
Stalls will be offering gifts, artwork, vintage clothing and textiles, homemade produce, Christmas decorations, plants and flowers, and there will be a larger than ever farmers’ market.
Locally produced hotdogs will be on sale from 10am-noon, then homemade soup and bread from noon-2pm. Complimentary mulled wine and mince pies will also be available.
